About Me

I started my career with Molinare, a radio and TV audio post-production studio, way back in September 1975. Starting out as a trainee assistant in the transfer department, through diligence, opportunity and timing, I quickly progressed through the ranks to become a junior engineer.

It was a short time later that I was fortunate enough to work on a radio campaign for the agency LAP, for the product Camping Gaz, written by Iain Dunn and Mark Reddy. This was the first campaign to use the ‘Mastermind’ theme to brilliant effect and featured the late, great Peter Sellers playing all the roles. Suffice to say, the ads won every possible radio award that year and therefore helped put my name on the map.

In October 1979 I opened the doors to Angell Sound, based in the heart of Covent Garden. Starting with one studio, the facility soon expanded to three, with a separate self-op studio for radio programme work. I was involved with numerous award-winning campaigns for products such as Phillips, Heineken, Nationwide Anglia Building Society, Drink Drive, to name but a few.

The biggest development came in September 1998 when Angell Sound moved to Wardour Street in London’s Soho. The company opened a further two studios making it a comprehensive, digital, five-studio audio post-production facility.

In my fortieth year, I decided to shut the doors of the company bringing an end to part one of an incredible working life journey. In part two and since then, I have been working independently producing radio, TV and online advertising, as well as children's audio books, for a range of wonderful and collaborative clients.

I stay fit by cycling, playing squash, padel tennis and golf (or try to!), and am a huge Chelsea fan. I have regularly helped the Radio Advertising Bureau by running creative and production seminars and was proud to be the recipient of the Fellowship Award in 2004 and Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006.
